What different kinds of griddles are there?

How do you use a griddle?
It’s important to let the griddle reach the right temperature first. Set the desired temperature and do not start cooking until it reaches it. You can grease the plate with a little oil while you wait. Then, put your food on the plate and only turn it over once so that the colour can develop properly and the juices are preserved as much as possible. Wipe the plate quickly with paper towel before placing new food on the griddle. When you have finished cooking, allow the plate to cool completely. Using a damp cloth is usually sufficient to clean the griddle. If there is a long interval between the last use and cleaning, you can put a little oil on your cloth to make the residue easier to remove.
What should you look for when buying a griddle?
First, decide where you want the appliance to go in your kitchen so you know what dimensions you need. What kind of capacity do you need? Will you be using the griddle every day or only a little? What dishes will you be using it for? These questions determine whether you need a double griddle or whether a single one will suffice.
It’s also important to look at the capacity of the thermostat. A good griddle can reach a temperature of 300⁰C, but low temperatures, such as 50 and 70⁰C, can also be useful. What power supply is available to you? Can you use a gas griddle or should it be electric? With an electric griddle, you have to consider whether you need one with the standard 230V socket or if you have a 400V socket for high voltage current.
