What should you consider when buying refrigeration equipment?
Where will you be placing the appliance? Each item in our refrigeration range has a maximum ambient temperature up to which it will function optimally. If you place it next to an oven or near a window and in direct sunlight, this will have an effect on its operation and energy consumption. In addition, for fridges and freezers, it is helpful to consider which side the door opens on. For a drinks fridge or a display fridge, you should think about whether it is best to choose one with a sliding door or a hinged door.
A fridge is usually on for 24 hours a day and can be a major energy consumer in your hospitality business. Maxima's modern fridges and freezers only use a fraction of the energy compared to older models. So even if your older cooling equipment still works, the energy consumption could be a good reason to replace it.
How do you clean fridges and freezers?
Cleaning fridges is generally quite simple. Start by unplugging and emptying the fridge. Because of the use of stainless steel or others metal, all large surfaces are easy to clean. A slightly damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent is usually sufficient for the outside. Thanks to the special cooling cycle in Maxima’s refrigeration equipment, the chance of ice forming is minimal. This keeps the fridges in good working order and condensation drains off by itself. However, it’s also advised to clean the inside regularly. Use lukewarm water and a mild cleaning agent. Don’t forget to wipe down the rubber seal on the door. Finally, dry everything again thoroughly with a soft cloth.
For the freezers, you should always defrost it before cleaning. To do this, simply unplug the freezer and empty it of all its contents. Place your products in the fridge while the freezer is being cleaned. The freezers have a drain to get rid of excess water. There is also a drainage tap on the side to let the water out in a controlled way. Defrosting is quicker if you loosen the ice on the walls with a plastic ice scraper. You can also place a pot or pan with boiling water inside the freezer to melt the ice faster. Make sure you put this on a heat resistant pot holder so you don’t damage the freezer. After defrosting, clean the inside with warm water and a mild detergent. Use a soft cloth to dry it after and then switch the freezer back on again. Put your products back in the freezer a few minutes after switching it on.
Drinks fridges and display fridges usually have a prominent place in your business and are constantly in use. Because they are visible to your customers, you want to keep them looking neat and tidy. You can clean these in the same way as a fridge, but make sure you only use a little bit of water to prevent condensation as much as possible.
