Being able to freeze products quickly and efficiently is important for preserving food and keeping it fresh. Often, money is wasted by having to throw away ingredients that haven’t been stored correctly. That’s why investing in good refrigeration and freezer equipment is crucial for catering businesses.

What features do Maxima's freezers have?

Maxima's larger freezers stand on four wheels, while the smaller models have conveniently adjustable legs.

Other important features are:

  • Shelves included
  • Lock included
  • Economical LED lighting inside
  • Antibacterial rubber door seal
  • Stainless steel or plastic interior
  • Protective insulation of at least 5cm
  • Cooling cycle that reduces ice formation
  • Digital temperature control

Do you use your freezer capacity more for long-term storage? Then a chest freezer is another good option. Chest freezers are on par with freezers in terms of capacity, but thanks to the flexible layout you can often store more in them.  Another good freezer option, specifically for fast freezing, is a blast freezer which cools food down to 3°C in approx. 90 minutes and to -18°C in approx. 4 hours. This is not only good for food safety but also preserves the quality of ready-made dishes.

What should you consider when buying a freezer?

Placement: Each freezer has a maximum ambient temperature at which it will function optimally. If you place it next to an oven or near a window in direct sunlight, this will affect its operation and energy consumption. It's also useful to check which way the door opens.

You should also consider the available space, current menu items and future expansion plans. Due to the wide selection, making the right choice may take some time. The advantage of the large selection is that there is always a freezer for your needs.

A freezer is on 24 hours a day, which makes it a major energy consumer in your food catering business. Maxima's modern freezers only use a fraction of the energy compared to an old freezer. So even if your old freezer still works, energy consumption could be a good enough reason for replacing it with a modern freezer.

How do I clean my freezer?

Cleaning freezers and fridges is generally quite simple. The use of stainless steel or metal makes all large surfaces easy to wipe down. For this, a damp cloth with a mild detergent is sufficient.

To clean the inside, you first need to defrost the freezer. You do this by unplugging and emptying it of all its contents. You can place your products in a refrigerator while cleaning the freezer.

Maxima's freezers also have a special cooling cycle that reduces the formation of ice. You can speed up defrosting by loosening the ice with a plastic ice scraper. After defrosting, clean the inside using warm water and a bit of detergent. Use a good quality, microfibre cloth to dry everything when finished.

Turn the freezer back on when everything has dried completely. Put your products back in the freezer a few minutes after turning back it on.
